Caravan Serai

Caravan Serai is at Bandra Waterfield road, yes that's where you have Zenzi, Golden Orchid and Red Box ... it is just above Golden Orchid (1st Floor) and serves Indian Food. We had gone here for a team dinner.
Place
The decore is nice with dim lighiting and old rustic paint, furnishings and show pieces. I like the low seating arrangement. The kitchen is behind a glass wall and you can see the chef making rotis, kebabs etc... The tables are made up of wood planks and the chairs out of jute.
One thing i did not like was that the place was very noisy .. somehow a lot of these Family Restaurants are always noisy and that kills the dining experience. I guess because people come in big groups the noise levels increase...
Food & Drinks
It serves a complete Indian Cuisine. What i was surprised was that there was no soup .. not even the usual Tomato Shorba ... ! The starters choice was good and the Galouti Kabab were really tender. The veggies had a veg platter.
The other usual stuff like your Paneer Makhanwala, Dal Tadka, Murg Rahra were all prepared in authentic Indian style and were delicious.
In cocktails i liked the Tequila Sunrise in specific, but of course the other stuff was also good.
Price
A meal for two will cost you around Rs. 2000 with drinks.

Costa Coffee

Costa Coffee is situated at Juhu next to the famous Tian restaurant. I went there basically just to check how different it is from Cafe Coffee day and Barista chain ... and whether it really has something great to offer. The place where they have opened the cafe is quite an expensive place in terms of rent etc ...
Place
The place is done up quite well and the wooden flooring and the chairs and chouches are pretty ... It is well lit up and surprisingly to pamper the Juhu crowd it even has a valet parking .. slightly an over kill for a cafe i must say ...
Food
Nothing great it has the usual stuff like coffee off course and sandwich, rolls, pasteries, cookies, croissants etc etc ... but trust me we did not like the food at all... We had the following :
- Cold Coffee : the basic one but it was so watery and almost taste less ...
- Paneer Roll : the roti was very thick and chewy ... the paneer was although good
did not dare to try any thing after this ... let me know if you find something good here ...
Price
This place is very expensive we paid a whopping Rs. 246 for the above 2 items ... i guess because this is more of a celebrity place ... we saw Jimmy shergill sitting there ... but he wasn't having anything ... guess he must have had is coffee at the adjoining Cafe Coffee day :>>> !!!!

My recommendation is to visit here ONLY if you have lots of money and don't know how to spend (rather waste) the same ...

Trafalgar Chowk

Trafalgar Chowk is located at Bandra near the Mount Mary steps. The restaurant is near the market place but for a restaurant like this it is at quite an unusual place. I have real fond memories of Trafalgar Chowk visiting with my friends and family quite often.
Place
The place has three different sections, one outside in the compound it has shade and fans so you won't feel hot. the other one is where the DJ is and if you are in a mood to drink and listen to music and request your own you can sit here. Third one is inside and is suitable for a family & friends get together ...
I even found the loo to be very differently made ... do visit :)

Food

They mainly serve Italian, Continental and Indian cuisines. The menu is not very elaborate but it will surely leave you contended.
We had Garlic Prawns and the Olive Prawns. Even the Murg Malai Tikka and Achari Murg was good. The veggies can have Italian starters. On the India side they some preparation of cottage cheese (paneer) or mushrooms. The starters portion is small so order generously, specially if you are drinking .
We had a guest from Singapore and hence we stuck to the Indian menu for the main course also .... but i know for sure that the Continental and the Italian stuff there is really great.
The drinks menu offered a lot of options right from the domestic Old Monk to Jack Daniels and Johnny Walker Black Label. It is priced at par with any other restaurant, where a peg of Premium Whisky will be around Rs. 275-300
Price
A meal for two along with drinks will cost you around Rs . 1000-1500 with drinks
Special Events
They have karaoke nights on Fridays...

I love this place so do watch this space for more info ...after my next visit
